Your hair is built from keratin protein. Heat, color, bleach, sun, and time wear it away, leaving tiny gaps along the hair shaft. Humid air fills those gaps with water, the hair swells, and you get frizz.

Use sulfate-free and sodium-chloride-free shampoo. Sulfates and salt strip the keratin out fast. A drugstore shampoo can cut a five-month result down to six weeks. We carry professional sulfate-free options and will show you what works — this isn’t an upsell, it’s the difference between the treatment lasting and not.
Beyond that: rinse and reapply protection after chlorine or salt water, use heat protectant when you style, and book your next treatment before you’re fully back to square one — maintaining a smooth result is easier than starting over.
A lot of clients book smoothing alongside a color service. The order matters, and we’ll sort it out at the consultation — generally color goes first, then smoothing, with the right spacing between. If you’re getting balayage or foil highlights, mention that when you book so we can plan the timing properly.
Smoothing also makes color look noticeably better. Frizzy hair scatters light and makes color look dull; smooth hair reflects it and makes the same color look glossy and expensive.
